The New York City Police Department seized 35 pounds of cocaine this week from the mail center at the United Nations.
The bag was masquerading as a diplomatic pouch that raised suspicions when it was scanned because of what appeared to be a fake UN logo. It appeared that the drugs were sent from Mexico City via Cincinnati.
“This did not come from a UN facility,” said Gregory B. Starr, UN undersecretary general for safety and security. “It was not, in my opinion, not intended to go to a United Nations facility.”
