Jason Booth is proud of his journey out of addiction. The 32-year-old Englishman once had his boxing career stalled by his drug and alcohol addiction and spent some time in prison. But Booth found Christ’s love and has renewed hope as a born again Christian for his future.
Booth feels lucky, especially since his younger brother, Nicky, also a boxer, is still fighting his addiction to alcohol and drugs.
“We both fell from grace and Nicky fell a lot faster than me,” Booth said. “He’s still falling. He is not in a good way and I am the lucky one.”
Booth believes that boxing saved his life and that boxing and religion became his detox program.
“I’ve always believed in God and stuff, and now I think He is looking over me. He gave me the strength to rebuild and try again.”
