A community in Utah chose to celebrate, rather than scorn, drug addicts, with a day called Recovery Day. It is the third year that the Provo community has celebrated addicts who are clean and encourage those who are still in the process of recovery. “Everybody knows someone who’s been affected by addiction,” said Marilee VanWagenen, a volunteer with the Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness. The organization, along with Utah County’s Division of Substance Abuse, has come together to organize Recovery Day. Both organizations believe that the event is a way to begin conversations about drug addiction.
