February is the month when young and old remember special people in their lives with cards, gifts, and flowers. When we think about it every day should be Valentines Day. The word of God says we are to “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Many of us fall short of this.
God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son to die for us that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Many times it is hard to love the unlovely, the unappreciative, and the angry person. They are in our midst every day. Jesus said when we reach out to others in love and forgiveness, we are also forgiven. Perfect love casts out fear. I hear it said that “Love in your heart is not put there to stay. Love isn’t love till you give it away.”
This world is getting worse. I have had people tell me, “If God loves me, then why is my life such a mess?” The alcoholic is always crying the blues, full of self-pity, just wanting to spend another night with his bottle. The drug addict’s life is no fun. I know from firsthand knowledge. They are living in bondage to something that wants total control and wants to destroy their minds. There are women on the streets who sell their bodies to get money for their next high. Children are neglected and in need of food and clothing.
We are called to be good examples to the lost and hopeless. We represent God in our actions as well as our words.
God has given us an assignment and it is to express the love that’s in our hearts to others so that they may find that same love and peace. The one that only comes from Jesus Christ!
God sent Jesus for all people. Everyone is called to come to God’s kingdom. The good news is, Jesus came to set the captive free!
