Prescription Drug Abuse in Las Vegas
Candy Finnigan is an interventionist who helps families cope with the stresses of drug addiction. Finnigan has been featured on the A&E reality show “Intervention,” and Finnigan was in Las Vegas this week to participate in a forum about prescription drug abuse.
“Because you have a lot of everything, and everybody wants a quick fix here. Everybody wants to feel better fast. Everybody wants it now, and pills certainly add to all of that,” said Finnigan. The forum was sponsored by A&E, Cox Communications, and the Foundation for Recovery.” I think a lot of it starts by…all you have to do is open your medicine cabinet or your grandmother’s or the lady next door, and you got an instant high,” said Finnigan.
There is a significant problem in Las Vegas and Clark County with prescription drug abuse, especially among teenagers. Last year, about 30,000 people died in Clark County from prescription drug abuse.
