The majority of Americans believe that prayer has the power to deliver good health. A recent Gallup poll found that four out of five Americans believe that prayer works regardless of what a person actually believes. The poll, conducted in May, included a random sample of 1,049 adults interviewed by phone.
“My feeling is that prayer is very beneficial to anyone, especially one who is going through difficult times,” said Dr. Eddy Garner, director of missions for the Colbert/Lauderdale Baptist Association in Alabama. “The important thing is that we are asking our living God to intercede.
American and South American researchers have concluded that prayer can physically improve the health of those being prayed for, especially when the prayer is done in close proximity to the person in need of the prayer.
