Lester Davis is thankful to God for giving him another chance. Five years ago, Davis began his new sober life after years of addiction to drugs. His criminal record includes a startling 56 arrests.
“I know I should be dead,” Davis said. “But just in time, I learned that you don’t blame others for your mistakes, and you don’t need drugs to bury your feelings. It’s all right to cry.”
Today, Davis works in the kitchen at WS Prime, a restaurant in the Marriott hotel in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Davis was made employee of the year back in January.
“He has been an inspiration to us all,” said Jen Prpich, general manager of the restaurant.
Davis is active in his church and talks to young people about finding strength in Jesus Christ and their families, rather than in drugs.
