Griffin O’Neal Pleads Guilty
Griffin O’Neal, the son of actor Ryan O’Neal, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs stemming from a head-on collision that injured another driver earlier this year.
O’Neal pleaded guilty in San Diego to two felonies – driving under the influence and possession of a firearm by a felon. O’Neal also acknowledged to the court the fact that he has a 1992 conviction for shooting into an unoccupied vehicle. San Diego County prosecutors contend O’Neal was on drugs on Aug. 2 when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another car.
O’Neal’s defense attorney said at an earlier court hearing that her client had been trying to help his half-brother, Redmond O’Neal, who had been arrested on suspicion of heroin possession on the same day. If convicted, Griffin O’Neal faces up to four years in prison.
