Man Shoots Himself After Being Denied Pain Pills

Police in Montana said a man shot himself in the ankle after physicians and nurses refused to give him pain pills for his back pain.

The 48-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, was upset when he left Holy Rosary Healthcare hospital on Monday night because medical staff would not give him the drugs. He pulled a gun from his car and shot himself in the hospital parking lot in order to get treatment. His wound was not life threatening.

Prosecutors are deciding whether or not to charge the man.
