A new report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration indicates that substance abuse treatment programs across the United States are operating at 89 percent capacity, with their services continuing to be in high demand.
The residential treatment programs in this country are operating outside a hospital setting. According to the report, there are 110,795 residential treatment beds designated for this purpose. More than 76 percent are in private, non-profit treatment facilities.
Experts attribute this statistic to the increase in prescription drug addiction, and the numbers of people seeking treatment for their addictions to drugs and alcohol.
