The Helping Hands Foundation is truly living up to its name in Ocala, Florida. The foundation was started by Brad Dinkins, a local real estate developer in 2008, who saw a need to help those in need in the community. The Christian ministry currently operates a 20 bedroom apartment building for men, and two thrift stores that help fund the ministry. “We find a lot of people have just about given up on life,” Dinkins said. “We pray and ask God to send the people to us that he wants us to help. We try to help them build a new life and give them a hope and a future.” Now the foundation is expanding its reach and helping women and children struggling with substance abuse and the problems that brings. Many of the people being helped by the ministry have struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, either personally or within their family.
