Governor John Kasich is determined to fight the battle against prescription drug addiction. The Ohio governor pledged $100,000 dollars to Scioto County recently. The governor also announced new access to treatment and the creation of a new multi-agency effort.
“Most Ohioans don’t even believe the battle is raging, but it is…You know about it down here because it’s taken your family,” Kasich said.
In Scioto County, 9.7 million doses of prescription pain medication were dispensed in 2007 to 78,000 people. That number equals 123 doses for every person living in the county.
“We need to make sure we have a very focused approach, a very focused attack, on the evil that lurks in this county,” Kasich said.
