Major League Baseball Career Cut Short By Addiction
Josh Hamilton had a promising career in Major League Baseball, but it was cut short by drug and alcohol addiction. His marriage was in shambles, though his wife Katie was confident that her husband would rebuild his life.
At a recent program at Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas, the former Texas Rangers outfielder spoke to a packed auditorium about his journey to recovery and sobriety. Hamilton credits his Christian faith with helping him escape the world of addiction. Hamilton memorized Bible scripture to displace his thoughts and cravings of drugs and alcohol. Hamilton and his wife encouraged wife to focus on faith, rather than baseball, and fill their children’s lives with the word of God.
“Our real job as believers is to share the good news of Christ,” said Katie Hamilton.
