Recovering Addict Wants Others To Know About Christ’s Love

Jason Easter, recovering addict, struggled for years with addictions to drugs and alcohol. He spent time in prison and relapsed after his release from prison.  “But I was miserable,” Easter said. “I didn’t have the Lord in my life.” In 2004, Easter entered Alabama Teen Challenge, a Christian discipleship-based approach to remaining clean and sober. Easter now wants people to know how this unique program saved his life. “Life is so much more than just being sober. If I had just focused on sobriety, I wouldn’t be standing here today.”
Today, Easter is the director of the Alabama Teen Challenge center in Selma, a men’s facility with 28 beds. The Bible-based program aims to help people restore their physical and spiritual health, while strengthening their faith in Jesus Christ’s love and forgiveness. The Selma center will accept addicts into their program even if they cannot pay for their treatment.
