Recovery Weekends are new family events in South Florida sponsored by a new non-profit organization called I Am Somebody.
“A lot of the people in recovery, all they have ever known about having a good time is drinking and drugging,” said Lincoln Coleman. The former Dallas Cowboys player moved to Delray Beach a year ago after completing a 32-day rehab program in the town. “After they get tired of drinking coffee at Starbucks and smoking cigarettes, the next best thing is relapse.”
The organization will sponsor Recovery Weekends and help former addicts to write their resumes, learn interview techniques and find a full-time job. I Am Somebody wants to show addicts that sobriety can be fun.
“A lot of people look at recovery as a death sentence, and it isn’t. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself.”
