Redmond O’Neal Struggling With Addiction

Ryan O’Neal is reacting to his son’s latest arrest for drug-related charges. “He never recovered from the loss of his mother,” said Ryan O’Neal. Redmond’s mother, Farrah Fawcett, died of cancer in June of 2009. Redmond O’Neal, 26, faces time in prison for this latest arrest. He pleaded not guilty to two charges – felony possession of heroin and being a felon in possession of a handgun. He was arrested last week in Santa Monica when police allegedly found marijuana and heroin in his car after a traffic stop. After police searched his apartment, they allegedly found a loaded handgun. The judge in the case ordered O’Neal held without bail until another hearing on August 24, but cautioned O’Neal that his drug addiction would have to be addressed. “He’s an addict,” said Tatum O’Neal, Redmond’s half-sister and a recovering addict herself. “Addicts keep using until they want to stop. We’re praying for him every day.”
