Seek First the Kingdom of God

See First the Kingdom of God

As human beings, we are all seekers. (TO SEEK: to aim for, to strive for, to pursue).

We have to ask ourselves, what are we seeking? Jesus taught us to seek first the Kingdom of God.

Today, millions of people around the world are seeking first the kingdom of God. They are showing their support by centering their lives on the doing of God’s will, having dedicated themselves to Him.

On the other hand, the vast majority of people are interested in seeking mundane things. People pursue money, possessions, and pleasures—all that money can buy. They put their main energies into furthering their careers and finding pleasure in material things. Their way of life reflects a pre-occupation with themselves. These people put God in second place, if they believe in Him at all.

We must remember that nothing dampens a person’s spirit and kills his testimony as much as the cares of this world. Learn to trust God. Don’t concentrate your mind and your heart on the things of this world. Concentrate and focus upon God. The believer has a heavenly Father who knows our needs. The believer is to seek “first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” He is to leave the cares of this world up to God as he diligently goes about his affairs upon earth. He makes his contribution to life as God has called him to do. While doing so, he knows God will take care of the necessities of life.
