Ted Williams Appears as Dr. Phil Guest
The homeless man who became an overnight sensation, Ted Williams, is finally acknowledging that he needs treatment for his drug and alcohol addiction. Williams, 53, had been homeless in Ohio and struggling with addiction when a local reporter filmed him and posted the video on YouTube. His “golden voice” was a viral hit, and he then appeared on the TODAY show. With that, the job offers started flooding in, and Williams quickly became famous.
He Admits His Problem
With an appearance on the Dr. Phil show, Williams admitted that he has been drinking every day. Dr. Phil McGraw confronted Williams and then convinced him to get treatment.
“If Ted is ever going to get better, he’s got to be honest with himself and admit he’s addicted to drugs and alcohol,” said Dr. Phil. “I’ve told him it’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction.”
