The Anchor Point Recovery Center hopes to treat up to 40 women struggling with drug addiction. The facility in Newport, Arkansas wants to embrace the children of the women coming for treatment.
“A lot of women are not going to seek help, if they are going to lose their kids,” said Shane Goings, the center’s director. “We are focused on bringing healing to the lives of every mother and child that will stay here.”
The center is still in the planning stages and more money is needed to fund its progress. The construction will start as soon as enough money has been raised. The women will have to spend a minimum of six months in treatment at the center. They will develop a relationship with Christ through Bible study as part of their recovery.
“We are going to focus on a relationship with Christ,” said Goings. “Most places teach addicts about the disease concept, and they aren’t allowed to talk about God.”
